Channel A announced on the 29th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Japanese content producer Pony Canyon for the co-production of the drama Check-in Hanyang. With this agreement, Channel A once again demonstrates its growing influence in the Japanese market.

Scheduled to air in December, Check-in Hanyang is a romance sageuk set in Joseon’s most luxurious inn—akin to a modern high-end hotel—and follows the turbulent coming-of-age journey of four MZ-generation youths. Rising actors such as Bae In-hyuk, Kim Ji-eun, Jung Gun-joo, and Jaechan of the idol group DKZ lead the cast, joined by veteran actors Kim Eui-sung, Yoon Je-moon, Kim Min-jung, and Han Jae-suk.

Pony Canyon, founded in 1966 and a subsidiary of Fuji Media Holdings, has produced and distributed a wide range of content including music, animation, dramas, and films. This marks the company’s first-ever co-production partnership with a Korean studio on a historical drama.

Since its launch in 2011, Channel A has exported various dramas such as Queen of Masks, Show Window: The Queen’s House, and Lie After Lie, as well as popular entertainment formats like Heart Signal and Lessons for the Groom, to the Japanese market.
