Director Jung Ji-in received the Drama of the Year award for The Red Sleeve at the 2021 MBC Drama Awards, which aired on the 30th.
The Grand Prize (Daesang) of the night went to Namgoong Min for The Veil. This marks his second consecutive Daesang win, following his Grand Prize at the SBS Drama Awards last year for Stove League, solidifying his status as one of Korea’s most trusted actors.
In addition to Namgoong Min’s Daesang, The Veil collected five awards, including Excellence Awards for Jang Young-nam and Jung Moon-sung, Best Supporting Actor for Kim Do-hyun, and Best New Actress for Kim Ji-eun.
The most awarded series of the night, however, was The Red Sleeve, which achieved eight wins and continues to break its own viewership records.
Lee Junho and Lee Se-young won Best Actor and Best Actress in the Miniseries category and also took home the Best Couple Award.
Kang Hoon won Best New Actor, Jang Hye-jin won Best Supporting Actress, and writer Jung Hae-ri received the Screenwriter Award.
The series itself was honored with the Drama of the Year distinction.
The broadcast of the 2021 MBC Drama Awards recorded 4.8% viewership in Part 1 and 6.3% in Part 2 in the Seoul metropolitan area, ranking No.1 in its timeslot, with peak ratings reaching 9%.
